FTP – File Transfer Protocol is a standard network protocol used for the transfer of computer files between a client and a server on a computer network. Using Amazon Linux AMI, below are the basic steps to set up an FTP on AWS EC2 instance.
Install FTP Server
yum install vsftpd
sudo systemctl start vsftpd
sudo systemctl enable vsftpd
Edit configuration file
File /etc/vsftpd/vsftpd.conf
anonymous_enable=YES local_enable=YES write_enable=NO local_umask=022 dirmessage_enable=YES xferlog_enable=YES connect_from_port_20=YES xferlog_std_format=YES chroot_local_user=YES chroot_list_enable=YES chroot_list_file=/etc/vsftpd/chroot_list listen=NO listen_ipv6=YES pam_service_name=vsftpd userlist_enable=YES tcp_wrappers=YES user_config_dir=/etc/vsftpd_user_conf use_localtime=YES
cd /etc/vsftpd; touch chroot_list
Create FTP User
Create int200 user
sudo usermod -d /var/www/html/wiki/files/ int200
Change password of user
passwd int200
Allow int200 user
cd /etc/vsftpd_user_conf/
touch int200anon_world_readable_only=YES write_enable=YES local_umask=0002 chown_uploads=YES chown_username=apache anon_umask=022
Testing
Using WinSCP try to connect to the instance
